We will determine the risk factors associated with malaria infection among children aged 5 to 15 years in the Banfora and Mangodara health districts in southwest Burkina Faso.
The basic design is a cohort study where risk factors for Plasmodium infection will be monitored for the duration of the 2017 rainy season (May to November). Both active and passive case detection will be used to ensure we capture a high proportion of infections in the cohort. Putative risk factors for malaria will be monitored associated with exposure to malaria mosquitoes.
